The Daily Dig
The University Athletic Association has cleared a major planning hurdle for the renovation of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The project team now has the green light to continue design, planning, and pre-construction work.
The full project still needs final approval from the University of Florida Board of Trustees, with a vote expected in September. The projected investment is approximately $1.45 billion. Funding is expected to come through a mix of private giving, capital reserves, and long-term debt, pending approval from the Florida Board of Governors.
On the design side, the university is holding firm on three things: the stadium's historic seating capacity, the Orange Wing Walls, and the bowl geometry that keeps fans close to the field. Planned upgrades include expanded concourses, new concessions and restroom capacity, improved accessibility, upgraded premium hospitality spaces, and a full technology and audio-video overhaul.
Legends Global will serve as Owner's Representative, guiding strategic planning and execution. Manhattan Construction Group and Hunt Construction Group will partner as the construction management team leading the renovation. Phasing, timelines, and premium offering details have not been released yet and will come as planning continues.

TheJobWalk Thoughts
September is the date worth watching. Until the Board of Trustees votes, this is design and pre-construction work, not committed construction. For subs and suppliers tracking this project, that vote is the realistic point to shift from watching to positioning.
Preserving the existing bowl, seating capacity, and Orange Wing Walls signals a renovation built around the current footprint rather than a clean-sheet rebuild. That kind of constraint tends to favor contractors with experience working inside occupied, historic venues over firms used to ground-up commercial work.
Legends Global and the CM team are already named, but bid details have not been released. That gap is the window for trade contractors to start building relationships with Manhattan and Hunt before formal bidding begins.
