The Daily Dig:
On February 3rd, the Sand Springs City Council voted 6-1 to approve rezoning for Google's proposed data center campus, known as Project Spring, on an 827-acre site near Tulsa, Oklahoma. The property, located at 5615 OK-97, was annexed by the city in June 2025 and is being developed by White Rose Partners.
The approval comes amid ongoing legal challenges and public opposition, with residents alleging the annexation process lacked transparency. According to the project's information page, less than 10 percent of the site is planned for development, while 30-40 percent will be preserved as green space. Construction is hoped to begin in 2027 and be completed by 2029, with Google paying for required new electrical infrastructure, including a dedicated substation and transmission lines.
Project Snapshot:

Project Name: Project Spring
Sector: Data center campus
Location: Sand Springs / Tulsa area, Oklahoma
Land Area: 827 acres
Site Utilization: <10% developed; 30-40% green space
Timeline / Status: Rezoning approved; construction hoped 2027-2029
TheJobWalk Thoughts:
Rezoning's done, but that annexation lawsuit is still hanging around. The 10 percent development footprint suggests a phased approach, which makes sense given the local pushback. When this moves forward, power infrastructure will dominate early scope, dedicated substation and new transmission lines mean utility and civil coordination needs to happen long before vertical work starts.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
