The Daily Dig

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services has acquired Kirkman Engineering, a Dallas-Fort Worth land development firm. The deal marks Langan's fourth acquisition in Texas, bringing the firm's statewide workforce to 225 employees and seven offices.

Kirkman was founded in 2014 by Shea Kirkman and Patrick Filson. The firm specializes in land development across commercial, warehouse, and residential real estate sectors in the DFW Metroplex.

Langan President/CEO David T. Gockel pointed to continued client commitment in Texas as the motivation behind the move. Shea Kirkman noted that joining Langan positions the team to collaborate on some of the largest and most complex projects in the region.

Founded in 1970, Langan employs 2,300 professionals across 58 U.S. offices. The firm operates internationally through its wholly owned subsidiary, Langan International, based in New York, with five offices in London, Panama, Calgary, Athens, and Dubai.

TheJobWalk Thoughts

Four acquisitions in one state is not a coincidence. Langan is methodically building density in Texas, and firms that combine national resources with embedded local knowledge tend to win more work on the projects that matter. If you are a GC or developer putting together your consultant list for upcoming DFW work, the calculus on who to call has shifted.

Kirkman built its reputation in commercial, warehouse, and residential land development across DFW. Those client relationships and that local market knowledge now sit inside a 2,300-person firm with significantly broader technical capacity. For subcontractors and suppliers active in those sectors, the contact you already have at Kirkman is worth a conversation right now.
