The Daily Dig
ABK Biomedical announced on October 2, 2026, that construction has kicked off on their future U.S. commercial manufacturing facility at Cartwright Business Park in Ashland, Missouri. Once complete, the facility will produce Eye90 microspheres, a clinical-stage liver cancer treatment, at commercial scale.
The project is planned as a GMP manufacturing facility. Eye90 is a yttrium-90 radioembolization device that ABK is advancing toward potential commercialization.
For now, Eye90 microspheres remain investigational and are not approved for use outside authorized clinical trials.
Location, Location, Irradiation
The Ashland site is near the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR), which serves as ABK's primary irradiation partner for Eye90.
The relationship isn't new. ABK President and CEO Mike Mangano said the company's ties to the University of Missouri, MURR, and the Columbia community date back nearly a decade.
Who's Building It
ABK is partnering with COR Development and Coil Construction on the project.
David Coil serves as President of Coil Construction and is a co-founding partner of COR Development.
"We're proud to partner with ABK Biomedical on a facility designed for its specialized manufacturing needs and to contribute to the continued growth of the mid-Missouri area," Coil said.
Clock's Ticking
The project is scheduled for completion in 2027, with commissioning planned for 2028.
Mangano called the facility "an important part of our long-term plan to manufacture Eye90 microspheres® at commercial scale." ABK expects it to serve as a cornerstone of their future global supply chain.
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe attended the kickoff and highlighted the workforce side of the project. "Missouri is proud to invest in the skilled workforce and infrastructure that advanced manufacturing requires," he said.

TheJobWalk Thoughts
GMP work typically raises the bar well past a standard industrial job. Owners in regulated sectors tend to expect tight environmental controls, detailed documentation, and closeout records that can support validation. A 2027 completion followed by 2028 commissioning fits that pattern, even if the split of responsibilities isn't public yet.
For mechanical, electrical, and controls subs, that's usually where the specialized scope sits on projects like this. Firms with GMP or lab experience should lead with it early. Coil Construction is the named construction partner, so that's the logical first call.
