The Daily Dig
ARCO Design/Build has broken ground on a 355,000 square foot advanced manufacturing facility in Hagerstown, Maryland. The owner is Jamison Door Company and their parent company, BMP Group, with ARCO serving as design-build general contractor.
The building is the first phase of a planned North American manufacturing campus spanning 58 acres.
Inside, the facility will integrate automation, research and development, and product testing. Jamison will use it to expand production of specialty access systems, including cold storage doors, high-speed roll-up doors, dock levelers, and aircraft hangar doors.
Those products help maintain controlled environments for industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, warehousing, and aerospace.
The plant will also add U.S. manufacturing for certain European BMP Group brands.
Danilo Benotto, CEO and Chairman of BMP Group, made the case for keeping production local. “Jamison is one of the most recognized brands in the country, and Hagerstown is the heart of Jamison,” he said. “I believe Jamison needs to stay here to continue to produce quality, U.S.-made products.”
Role Reversal
For about 30 years, Jamison has worked as an ARCO subcontractor, supplying specialized door systems for industrial facilities nationwide. On this job, the longtime sub becomes the client.
“After working alongside Jamison for 30 years, we’re proud to help them build the next chapter of their manufacturing legacy,” said Aaron Weir, President at ARCO.
Phase Two on Deck
Phase 1 is expected to finish in the first quarter of 2028, with manufacturing operations starting shortly after.
Planning for a second phase is already underway to support BMP Group’s continued expansion in North America.

TheJobWalk Thoughts
Jamison has watched ARCO run jobs from the supplier side for about 30 years, and Benotto cited that relationship as a reason for the pick. On design-build work, owners who already know the GC’s process generally make decisions faster.
Automation and testing space typically carries heavier power and controls scopes than a standard warehouse shell, which matters for electrical subs. With Phase 2 in planning, strong Phase 1 work tends to earn the next call.
Procurement teams should pay attention as well. U.S. production of select European BMP brands could simplify sourcing on future door packages once operations begin.
