The system retrofits onto existing machines in a same-day install, no new hardware, no site barriers required. If a worker or object gets too close, the excavator just stops until the coast is clear.
Why Excavators First
Excavators make up about 25% of a contractor's fleet and are the hardest machines to staff reliably, given that five-year learning curve. Getting earthwork automated matters because nothing else on a job, concrete, steel, mechanical, can start until the dirt's moved.
The Bigger Dig
Founded in 2024 by ex-Waymo engineers, Bedrock has raised $350 million and now works with 15 GC partners across 23 states. Excavators are just the opener. Dozers, loaders, and dump trucks are next, with the real goal being fleets that coordinate like a crew that's worked together for years.
