The Daily Dig

Buildforce, which describes itself as the largest tech-enabled electrician staffing business in the U.S., has closed a $10 million Series A round. Saepio Capital led the round, with new investor Blue Heron Capital joining existing backers Revolution's Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, S3 Ventures, and Chicago Ventures. The Houston-based company plans to use the funding to expand nationally and continue building out its technology platform.

Founded in 2019, Buildforce runs a two-sided platform built specifically for the electrical trade. Electricians use a mobile app to find and take on work. Electrical contractors use a separate web application to find and manage electricians on commercial and industrial projects. The company reports its electricians have logged more than 2 million hours across over 2,000 commercial construction projects to date.

Saepio Capital's Jaan Bains tied the investment to what he called America's "generational infrastructure buildout." Blue Heron Capital's Nick Graziano was more specific, pointing to data center construction, infrastructure investment, and the energy transition as the forces driving demand for electricians. A 2026 economic report from BlackRock, cited in the release, projects the electrical trade will be the fastest-growing employment category in the U.S. over the next decade, with annual growth of 9.5%.

CEO and Co-Founder Moody Heard framed the round as a milestone tied to the company's mission of helping tradespeople build more secure careers. Graziano described Buildforce as having built "a purpose-built labor marketplace with deep workflow integrations beyond job posting," pointing to that as the reason for Blue Heron's investment.

TheJobWalk Thoughts

BlackRock's 9.5% growth projection covers the electrical trade as an employment category, not a guarantee of matching demand for any single staffing platform. But Graziano's framing is the more useful signal for contractors: he tied Blue Heron's investment specifically to data centers, infrastructure work, and the energy transition, three sectors already pulling hard on the same pool of electricians. GCs bidding into those markets should read that as confirmation of what they're likely already feeling on the ground.

Buildforce says this round funds continued development of its technology for both electricians and contractors, not just geographic expansion. That means the contractor-facing side of the platform is likely to keep evolving, which matters for any subcontractor or supplier building a relationship with Buildforce as a labor channel rather than treating it as a one-time hire.
