Centuri just landed more than $475 million in new commercial awards, and the data center gold rush had a hand in it.

The Phoenix-based utility and energy infrastructure company (NYSE: CTRI) announced the haul on August 17, with work spanning electric, gas, and one very power-hungry hyperscale data center project.

The breakdown:

  • New projects and expanded Master Services Agreements make up about 81% of the award value

  • The remaining 19% comes from renewals with existing MSA customers

  • A multi-discipline hyperscale data center project marks the first work secured through Centuri's recent JJ White acquisition

  • A major award covers phase three of natural gas infrastructure upgrades for a longtime client

  • Crews will rebuild 23 miles of transmission line for a new customer

  • Another MSA renewal includes roughly 14 miles of new gas pipeline installation

CEO Christian Brown credited the wins to what he called "intentional pursuit of profitable growth," pointing to data centers and multi-stage projects that have historically carried double-digit margins, according to the company's release.

The data center project is the headline story here. It's the first tangible payoff from the JJ White deal, and it signals Centuri wants a bigger seat at the table as hyperscalers keep building out power-hungry campuses across the country.

These awards stack onto a busy year. Centuri's year-to-date commercial bookings for 2026 now sit at roughly $2.6 billion.

Transmission lines, gas pipe, and server farms don't usually share a sentence, but that's the job mix now. Keep an eye on how many more JJ White-flavored deals show up before year end.
