Certerra has acquired Skyrise Engineering and Testing, a Fort Lauderdale geotechnical and materials testing firm, marking Certerra's fifth acquisition of 2026.
Skyrise was founded in 2022, but its leaders aren't new to the game. Engineers Eric Stern and Richard Fesdjian bring 20 years of industry presence and a hand in some of South Florida's biggest builds. Call it a young firm running on a veteran's resume.

Stern and Fesdjian are staying on to lead the South Florida operation, so clients keep the same faces while gaining access to a much bigger network.
The Bigger Buildout
This isn't a one-off shopping trip. Since January, Certerra has made five acquisitions, adding more than 250 team members and seven offices across five metro markets. Along the way, the company picked up new capabilities in building envelope testing, metallurgy and metals lab work, and specialized engineering consulting.
Certerra CEO Ed Lyon pointed to Skyrise's reputation in geotechnical testing within what he called one of the country's fastest-growing markets. Stern framed the deal as a way to plug into Certerra's national network without losing what built Skyrise in the first place.
Five acquisitions in eight months. At this pace, Certerra's business card is going to need a second side.
