The Daily Dig
The Town of Burlington, Massachusetts has awarded CTA Construction Managers the contract to build a new police station, replacing a facility originally constructed in the 1890s.
The existing building has served the Burlington Police Department for more than 30 years but no longer meets modern building codes or the operational demands of a contemporary law enforcement facility.
Kaestle Boos Associates designed the new station, with CHA serving as Owner's Project Manager. The design keeps a traditional colonial aesthetic while incorporating brick facades, fiberglass windows, and natural daylighting.
Functionally, the building will separate public areas, detainee spaces, and administrative functions. The facility will also include a community room, wellness center, sally port, and secure evidence areas.
This will be CTA's fifth project for the Town of Burlington in a relationship spanning more than 15 years. The firm also brings a 16-year working history with architect Kaestle Boos Associates and a 21-year relationship with OPM CHA, formerly known as Daedalus Projects.

TheJobWalk Thoughts
A project team with a 15-year owner relationship, a 16-year architect relationship, and a 21-year OPM relationship doesn't happen by accident. For subs and suppliers looking to get into this project, understanding those dynamics matters. CTA knows how this owner communicates, how the design team delivers, and how the OPM manages the process. Align your BD outreach accordingly.
Public safety facilities carry specific complexity most municipal buildings don't. Sally ports, secure evidence chains, detainee separation, and access control all require subcontractors with the right experience. Specialty MEP, security systems, and access control trades should be tracking this one closely.
