Woodway Energy Infrastructure has signed definitive agreements to develop, build, own and operate a 22-mile, 30-inch natural gas pipeline. It will carry gas to a behind-the-meter power generation project for a hyperscale data center development, according to a September 22 press release.
Behind-the-meter means the power is generated on the customer's side of the utility meter, not delivered through the grid. The release says the pipeline's capacity is dedicated to that project.

On the Calendar: Counting from the announcement, that puts expected service roughly 15 to 21 months out.
CEO Diaco Aviki said the project demonstrates Woodway's ability to "rapidly deliver large-scale, purpose-built natural gas infrastructure." He tied that to customers with demanding safety, reliability and capacity requirements.
Room to Grow: According to the release, the line was designed around the customer's specific requirements, with future scalability in mind. In other words, the pipe is planned for where this customer could go, not just where it starts.
The release doesn't name the customer, the data center, or the route, so the name on the gate stays a mystery.
Who's Holding the Wrench: Woodway develops, owns and operates intrastate natural gas pipelines serving data centers, independent power producers, utilities, and industrial and LNG customers. The company is backed by Macquarie Capital Principal Finance.
Woodway will own and operate this line, with 24/7 control room monitoring.
Plenty about this project is still under wraps. What's on paper is 22 miles of 30-inch pipe and a 2028 service window worth watching.
