The Daily Dig

Digital Realty has selected SmartPM Technologies as the enterprise schedule analytics platform for their global data center construction program. The agreement runs three years and covers Digital Realty’s Design Engineering & Construction (DE&C) organization across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.

SmartPM announced the deal on October 29, 2026, and says they were chosen following a comprehensive evaluation process.

Lining Up the Slots

The deployment includes approximately 60 project slots, plus professional services for implementation, analytics, and adoption. That last piece matters, since software nobody opens doesn’t fix many schedules.

The aim is a more standardized approach to schedule oversight, project controls, and portfolio reporting. For an owner building across three global regions, getting everyone to read a schedule the same way is no small ask.

“Construction teams have more project data than ever, but more data doesn’t automatically mean better decisions,” said Michael Pink, Co-Founder and CEO of SmartPM. “What matters is being able to quickly understand what’s changing, where risk is building, and what needs attention.”

Data Center of Attention

The agreement adds to SmartPM’s growing footprint in the data center market. According to the company, owners in that space want standardized analytics, objective performance measurement, and clear visibility across projects spread far apart.

TheJobWalk Thoughts

If Digital Realty delivers the common framework they’re aiming for, GCs on their work should expect closer, more consistent review of the schedules they submit. Portfolio reporting, by design, puts projects side by side. A weak schedule on one job becomes easier to notice next to a strong one.

Early risk identification is a stated goal. When an owner sees slippage sooner, the questions usually reach subs and suppliers sooner too. SmartPM says other data center owners want similar visibility, so contractors in this sector should treat a clean, defensible schedule as part of the work.
