The Daily Dig

DPR Construction has broken ground on Kaiser Permanente’s new Westminster Medical Offices in Westminster, Colorado. Kaiser confirmed the project’s cost at $230 million for a facility covering 132,000 square feet over three stories.

Kaiser calls the project their most significant brick and mortar investment in Colorado since 2011. They announced the groundbreaking on October 9, 2026.

Construction is underway immediately south of the current Westminster Medical Offices at 11225 Huron St. Once the new building opens, it will replace that one, which has served members since 1976.

Scrub In

The new building adds an outpatient surgery center, including robotic surgery. It will be Kaiser’s third outpatient surgery center in the Denver metro area.

“For many people, these procedures can mean less pain, fewer complications, and a faster recovery with the comfort of going home the same day,” said Greg Berman, MD, executive medical director of Kaiser Permanente in Colorado.

The location will also become Kaiser’s fifth urgent care in Colorado. Primary and specialty care, pediatrics, ob-gyn, medical imaging, lab services and a pharmacy round out the program.

Factory Settings

DPR is using prefabricated and modular construction for structural steel, exterior facades, interior spaces and MEP systems. Moving that work off the jobsite is meant to improve schedule certainty and reduce site complexity.

“This approach is especially valuable in healthcare environments, where complex building systems require precise coordination and minimizing disruption is critical,” said Scott Miller, Mountain States leader at DPR.

The facility is scheduled to open in 2028.

TheJobWalk Thoughts

Prefab across structure, facades, interiors and MEP usually moves the hard decisions to the front of a job. On a project like this, trades can expect to lock in coordinated designs and fabrication slots well before field work starts. Late arrivals may find the important calls already made.

The site also sits next to a working medical office. Building beside patients typically means tighter dust control and more careful delivery planning than an open lot would require.

Kaiser has opened three new Colorado medical offices and an urgent care since 2025. Builders who perform on this one are earning a reputation with a very active owner.
