The Daily Dig

EdgeConneX has filed permits to build two new data centers in Bastrop County, Texas. Each facility comes in at 730,000 square feet with an estimated cost of $700 million, putting the combined value at $1.4 billion. Both were filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on May 26, 2026.

The facilities are designated EDCAUS11 and EDCAUS12 and will sit on a 180-acre parcel at 6682 FM 535 in Cedar Creek that EdgeConneX acquired in November 2025. That site is adjacent to AUS02, a separate EdgeConneX facility already under construction at 8001 Wolf Lane. Construction on both new buildings is scheduled to start June 30, 2026, with a target completion date of December 31, 2028. Each is designed as a one-story structure, privately funded on private land.

Gensler Architecture, Design and Planning's San Antonio office holds design on both EDCAUS11 and EDCAUS12. The owner of record on both buildings is Burr Computer Environment Inc., based in Houston. The adjacent AUS02 is a two-story, 578,000 square foot facility with an estimated cost of $440 million, designed by Gensler's Dallas office, with a TDLR completion date of June 14, 2026.

Bastrop County sits roughly 35 miles southeast of Austin, one of Texas's most active data center markets.

TheJobWalk Thoughts

Buildings of this scale require long-lead procurement that starts months before groundbreaking. With a June 30 start date already on file, trade contractors in the Austin-Bastrop corridor who are not already in conversations with the GC are likely behind.

Gensler's San Antonio office holds design on both EDCAUS11 and EDCAUS12, and the same owner of record appears on both buildings. That kind of consistency across a campus means overlapping specs, consistent detailing, and an owner who already knows which trade partners perform. Subs who worked AUS02 go into this bid process with a real advantage.

AUS02 completes in mid-2026, right as the two new buildings are ramping up. For suppliers and trade contractors already mobilized in this corridor, that handoff is a direct opportunity to roll resources from one project into the next without standing anyone down.
