ONE Nuclear Energy LLC has executed a binding letter of intent giving it site control for Project Cayman, a Louisiana development built around a 2.88 GW natural gas plant. The project also includes a 700MW, 2.88GWh battery energy storage system and a co-located data center campus.
The LOI was signed with a prominent Louisiana landowner group. It's an early but meaningful step, locking in the site itself before any permitting or construction work begins. No cost, timeline, GC, or power buyer has been disclosed yet.
Power Trip
The project is designed to plug into Entergy's ongoing regional transmission buildout. Location clearly wasn't an afterthought here. Project Cayman sits near Louisiana's RiverPlex MegaPark, northeast of SpaceX's recently announced infrastructure expansion.
That's not just good scenery. ONE Nuclear says the project is meant to add dispatchable generation and storage near major new industrial loads and transmission investment already headed that direction.

CEO Richard Taylor tied the project directly to the region's other big swings. He name checked SpaceX's Starbase project and Hyundai's $5.8 billion steel mill as evidence of the growth Project Cayman is built to support.
Community outreach is already underway. ONE Nuclear expects it to include public information meetings with local parishes and government agencies running from September through December 2026.
