Buildots has rolled out a major update to Dot, its AI assistant for construction teams. Project teams can now assign Dot real work, like investigating a forecasted delay or verifying a trade partner’s claim, instead of just asking it questions.
The new version is available to Buildots customers worldwide at no additional cost, according to the company’s Oct. 21 announcement.
From Q&A to Assignments: Dot launched two years ago as what Buildots calls the construction industry’s first dedicated generative AI assistant. Since then, the company has added faster responses, handling for delay forecasts, and visual search.
Buildots describes this release as Dot’s largest evolution yet.
Dot’s New Tool Belt:
Preconfigured tasks, including comparing how an activity is performing across different locations on site, with more in development
Insights drawn from all underlying project datasets, not just documents and final reports, such as where your electrical trade should focus over the next two weeks
Charts and graphs showing progress over time, right in the chat window
A “why this matters” section in every report, with suggested next steps
Reports you can refine through conversation and share as a PDF
24/7 support for anyone learning a feature or stuck in the platform
Show Your Math: Users can ask Dot to explain the logic behind any metric, which Buildots calls “glass box” transparency. Ask how a forecasted delay was calculated, and Dot breaks it down step by step, assumptions included.
Data In, Answers Out: According to co-founder and CEO Roy Danon, Buildots users already have accurate, objective data on what’s happening on site. As that data grows, he said, the challenge shifts to analysis.
Dot now takes on more of that work, he said, giving operational leaders instant answers so they can focus on decisions and action.
The next time a trade partner’s claim lands on a Buildots customer’s desk, there’s a second opinion that explains its logic and brings its own charts.
