GME Supply has acquired Commercial Supply Company, a Des Moines, Iowa, distributor serving construction, renewable energy, and industrial contractors. Terms of the deal, announced Nov. 3, were not disclosed.

GME, headquartered in Columbia, Missouri, provides safety equipment, tools, training, and customized workwear for trade professionals. The company says the purchase extends its distribution throughout the Midwest and strengthens its presence in key infrastructure markets.

Est. 1948: Founded in 1948, Commercial Supply serves customers throughout the Midwest and across the country, including:

  • Utility-scale solar and wind contractors

  • General and specialty contractors

  • Civil and industrial construction firms

  • Municipalities

Wind, Solar, and Burlap: GME says Commercial Supply adds deep relationships in renewable energy and civil construction, along with specialized products and services that complement GME’s existing offerings.

The company carries power tools, PPE, fall protection, testing equipment, and jobsite consumables, plus sourcing and kitting services.

It also sells and rents VelociWrapper cable-wrapping equipment and produces industrial textiles, including burlap, paving covers, and wiping rags. Somebody has to make the rags, after all.

Keeping the Crew Together: Commercial Supply will keep operating from Des Moines with its existing team in place. Co-owners Brad Lilienthal and Jason Curry are joining GME Supply.

For customers, the pitch is more inventory without giving up personalized service. GME says they’ll gain access to its expanded product assortment, technical expertise, and distribution centers across the U.S. and Canada, while keeping the relationships they’ve come to expect.

GME CEO Ryan Keogh said the combined company can offer “greater access to inventory” and “the resources to support projects across more markets.”

GME calls the deal part of its ongoing commitment to partnering with successful businesses run by entrepreneurs. For a supplier founded in 1948, the next chapter comes with a national distribution network behind it.
