Bedrock Robotics, a San Francisco startup that retrofits existing excavators to run fully autonomous, has raised a $600 million Series C at a $4.1 billion post-money valuation, per a company release.

Who Wrote the Checks:

  • CapitalG and Emergence Capital co-led the round

  • New investors include USIT, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Temasek

  • Returning backers include 8VC, NVIDIA, and others

  • Total funding now sits at nearly $1 billion

Digging for Dollars: In mid-August 2026, Bedrock hit what it calls a defining milestone: fully autonomous excavators doing paid work on live commercial job sites.

Haydon Breaks Ground: Haydon, a 100% employee-owned general contractor based in Tempe, Arizona, is the latest partner. Its crews will use the system for fully autonomous earthwork on a remote site in Texas.

Haydon plans to expand its use across building and heavy civil projects, including data centers and healthcare facilities. It will also test trench work and the automation of larger machine models.

Bedrock signed new customers in Minnesota, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Missouri, Georgia, and Arkansas. Per the release, that pushes Bedrock past the West and Central South into the Midwest and South Atlantic.

Help Wanted, Machines Welcome: Bedrock’s release says 87% of construction firms report openings for hourly craft positions, and 88% say those roles are as hard or harder to fill than a year ago.

As contractors turn to automation to fill the gap, Bedrock says its customer volume has more than doubled since 2025.

Suiting Up: Bedrock also named Amy Jones Satrom, who deployed physical systems at Amazon, Nuro, and Uber, as VP of Operations. Lando Juarez, former Head of Legal for Uber’s Autonomous Mobility & Delivery business, joins as General Counsel.

Bedrock is starting with excavators, but its stated endgame is mixed fleets that coordinate themselves across an entire job site.

Just a quick one..
