The Kansas City Chiefs have made their first major announcement tied to the team's future day-to-day home, naming Kansas City-based Burns & McDonnell as owner's representative for the new practice facility and headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. The announcement came on July 17th. Burns & McDonnell will work alongside CAA ICON to serve as the team's trusted advisor through the design and construction process.
The two firms will provide independent oversight on behalf of the Chiefs, coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and other consultants as the project moves from early planning through construction and occupancy. That role includes tracking budget and schedule alignment and managing risk across the project team. Chiefs Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Matt Kenny pointed to the firm's combination of local roots and global project experience as a factor in the selection.
The practice facility and headquarters carry a $300 million price tag and will sit on roughly 155 acres near the intersection of College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road in Olathe. The release also references an associated mixed-use development at the site, though it is not specified whether that component is included in the $300 million figure or represents separate investment. The Chiefs are targeting an opening ahead of the 2031 football season.
