L3Harris Technologies is investing $1.27 billion into its manufacturing operations in Orange County, Virginia. The project will more than double the facility's current footprint and create more than 350 highly skilled jobs in the region.
The company's Virginia site currently spans 256,000 square feet and serves as L3Harris's Center of Excellence for Propellant Research and Small to Medium-sized Solid Rocket Motor Production. New facilities will support operations across multiple Department of War programs, covering propellant mixing, grinding, casting, and final assembly.
Governor Abigail Spanberger approved two grants from the Commonwealth's Opportunity Fund totaling $13 million to assist Orange County, along with a $5 million performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Performance Grant. Additional funding for employee training will flow through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership coordinated with Orange County and the Central Virginia Partnership to secure the investment.
L3Harris Missile Solutions President Ken Bedingfield pointed to the region's talented workforce and community commitment to long-term success as central factors, describing the expansion as an investment in manufacturing capacity for key national defense programs.
