The Daily Dig

Loenbro has acquired Prism Electric, a Texas and Oklahoma electrical contractor, in what the company is calling the largest acquisition in its history. The deal expands Loenbro's electrical capabilities and its footprint across the South.

Prism isn't a small add on. Founded in 1994, the company built its reputation on electrical work for healthcare, industrial, commercial, and mission-critical projects.

The headcount is the real story here. Prism brings roughly 2,500 employees into the fold. Loenbro isn't just picking up a client list, they're picking up an entire operating workforce overnight.

Wired for Growth

Members of Prism's leadership team will step into operational leadership roles within Loenbro's South Region. The move is designed to keep projects running smoothly through integration instead of starting from scratch.

CEO Daniel Cowan called the acquisition a transformational milestone for the company's long-term growth strategy. Prism President Blake Combs framed it as continuity, not a pivot. "This isn't a change in direction for Prism," he said. "It's the next step in our growth."

The timing tracks. Loenbro entered a strategic partnership with Kohlberg, a middle-market private equity firm, in December 2025 to fuel this kind of expansion.

A full advisory bench worked the deal. Alvarez & Marsal, Evercore, and Godfrey & Kahn represented Loenbro. Glaucon Partners and Hallett & Perrin represented Prism.

TheJobWalk Thoughts

Adding 2,500 employees and an established Texas-Oklahoma footprint gives Loenbro real in-house electrical depth to pair with their existing mechanical and structural lines. For GCs already using Loenbro on those scopes, their electrical capacity just got a lot more serious, and worth a second look on your next bid list.

For subs and suppliers already working with Prism, leadership staying in place through the South Region integration is a good early sign for continuity on active projects. It's still worth confirming early how procurement and vendor relationships settle once the two companies fully combine.

Deals like this also tend to signal where a company plans to compete next. Pairing electrical strength with existing mechanical and structural capabilities could position Loenbro for more multi-scope bids on data center and mission-critical projects, the exact sectors both companies call out as growth targets.
