The Daily Dig:
McLeod Health is moving ahead on a $45 million hospital replacement in Cheraw, South Carolina. The project includes roughly 55,000 square feet of new construction on the existing campus, replacing the original 1980 facility.
The new hospital will have 35 beds. Construction should take 18 to 24 months, with the current building staying operational throughout.
Project Snapshot:
Owner / Developer: McLeod Health
General Contractor / CM: Vannoy Construction
Design Team: LS3P
Sector: Healthcare
Hospital Value: $45 million
Location: Cheraw, South Carolina
TheJobWalk Thoughts:
Building adjacent to a live hospital isn't a standard sequence. Outage windows compress. Infection control doesn't pause. Utility work happens live or not at all. MEP and low-voltage will coordinate more in a month than most jobs see start to finish. In Cheraw, getting in front of McLeod and Vannoy during preconstruction beats being the low bid, particularly when half the real scope is still being worked out.
