The Daily Dig:
Mortenson will serve as construction manager for Denver Summit FC’s new women’s professional soccer stadium at Santa Fe Yards in Denver, the club announced in a January 6 press release. The stadium, a $225 million open air venue with approximately 14,500 seats and a sweeping Populous canopy design, will be the second purpose built professional women’s soccer stadium in the U.S. It anchors the larger Santa Fe Yards sports and entertainment district and is scheduled to open in time for Denver Summit FC’s inaugural National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) home match in the 2028 season.
Preconstruction activities begin immediately, with full construction set to start in Spring 2026. Summit FC president Jen Millet highlighted Mortenson’s track record in sports construction as a key reason for the partnership, while Mortenson EVP Maja Ericksen emphasized the firm’s Denver experience and commitment to elevating women’s professional sports. Mortenson will deliver the project with Denver based MWBE certified general contractor Gratacon as associate partner, and CAA ICON will provide project management while Populous leads design.

TheJobWalk Thoughts:
This is a straightforward sports facility delivery with a clean schedule push- precon now, shovels in spring, and opening aligned with league play. Contractors watching this type of stadium should note Mortenson’s front loading of preconstruction and the strategic pairing with an MWBE firm, which signals both logistic and local workforce considerations early in the cycle.
