Balfour Beatty has named Scott Skidelsky U.S. President for Strategy & Growth, a new role leading strategic development across its U.S. Buildings & Infrastructure business. The appointment took effect immediately, according to the company’s October 22 announcement.
New Seat, Bigger Map:
Skidelsky reports to Eric Stenman, CEO of U.S. Buildings & Infrastructure. Per Balfour Beatty, his job is to:
Accelerate growth and improve operational performance
Strengthen the company’s capabilities in priority U.S. markets
Bring together expertise from across the Group to create greater value for customers
Southeast Proving Ground:
Skidelsky joined Balfour Beatty in 2012 and has led its Southeast U.S. Buildings business since 2017. During that time, the division grew into one of the company’s largest, supported by strong client relationships and consistent operational performance.
Put simply, the leader who grew one region now has a strategy mandate that spans the whole U.S. Buildings & Infrastructure business.
Group CEO Philip Hoare said the role brings additional strategic focus under the company’s “Evolve, Energise, Explore” growth framework. He also credited Skidelsky with “an excellent track record of building successful operations in the U.S.”
Passing the Hard Hat:
John Harris succeeds Skidelsky as Divisional President of U.S. Buildings, Southeast. Harris started at Balfour Beatty as an intern and has spent more than 25 years with the company, most recently as Executive Vice President of the same division.
That keeps both appointments internal, and the Southeast goes to a leader the company credits with helping strengthen it.
The Business Behind the Title:
Headquartered in Dallas
About $6 billion in revenue
More than 3,800 employees
Ranked by Engineering News-Record among the leading domestic building contractors in the U.S.
The release doesn’t name the “priority” U.S. markets. If that list goes public, it will show where the $6 billion U.S. arm is placing its bets.
