Clayco and Kiewit New Mexico Co. have topped out the first portion of the Project Jupiter data center campus in Doña Ana County, New Mexico. The final structural beam is in place on this portion, which totals 855,000 square feet, completing its primary structural framework.

From Groundbreaking to Final Beam:

  • Joint venture selected by Oracle and STACK Infrastructure: August 2025

  • Groundbreaking: October 2025

  • Topping out announced: October 22, 2026

Checks on a Planetary Scale: Project Jupiter as a whole is expected to deliver more than $13 billion in economic impact to the state and county over the long term, according to the release. That includes:

  • $360 million in direct support for schools, infrastructure, and local systems

  • $50 million to repair, upgrade, and improve local water systems

  • $6.9 million for workforce development, community initiatives, habitat restoration, and water infrastructure

For the trades, the standout number is 7,000 construction jobs across the project. It’s also expected to support more than 3,100 ongoing roles in Doña Ana County.

Filled Once, Sealed Tight: Cooling will run on four closed-loop, nonevaporative systems. They’ll get a single fill of nonpotable well water bought under contract from an existing New Mexico water rights holder.

Maintenance top-offs are expected to total 0 to 1,000 gallons a year. After the initial fills, the data centers and fuel cells are expected to need about 168,000 gallons a year, roughly 457 gallons a day.

No public drinking water will be used for cooling or fuel cell operations. The release doesn’t say how much water the initial fills will take.

Fuel Cells on Deck: Onsite Bloom Energy fuel cells will power the campus microgrid. The companies say it will cut NOₓ emissions by about 92% (no baseline given) without affecting local electricity costs or grid stability.

Frame Done, Campus Pending: Topping out is a milestone, not a finish line. And this is just the first portion of the campus.

Just a quick one..
