The Daily Dig
A $366 million data center is headed for Cedar Creek, Texas. Project Longhorn - Building One was registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on October 7, 2026, with construction set to start November 30, 2026.
The site sits on Earl Callahan Road near Walter Hoffman Road in Bastrop County, outside Austin.
Metal Works
The building will be a one story pre-engineered metal building of Type II-B construction, covering roughly 498,165 gross square feet.
Scope includes civil site work, structural, and MEPF trades on a new campus. The building is classified S-1 for the data center and B for business use, with an accessory assembly area.
Completion is targeted for January 31, 2028, about 14 months after work begins.
On the Drawings
Gensler is the design firm of record, listed through their Dallas office. The filing names Roger Donald Wallace as the owner.
Lease Chatter
The project is privately funded, and the filing lists no tenant. Anthropic is reportedly in talks to lease a major data center campus in the Cedar Creek area, though no report confirms Building One is part of it.
Power Play
A natural gas generation facility on 2,842 acres has been reported for a data center campus in the area. At full buildout, it’s expected to deliver 710MW of redundant power from simple cycle turbines, supporting 490MW of IT capacity.
That proposal hasn’t been tied to this filing.
Crowded Corral
Building One won’t be lonely out there. EdgeConneX is developing a major campus nearby and filed four more buildings in August 2026.
Their Bastrop County footprint could eventually reach more than a dozen buildings across more than 1,500 acres.

TheJobWalk Thoughts
PEMB shells typically dry in faster than conventional structures, which can put MEPF crews inside sooner. On a schedule of roughly 14 months, electrical gear with long lead times is usually the risk worth watching. With Gensler named on the filing, suppliers already have a design team to get specs in front of.
The reported power plant is a separate proposal, so it’s worth tracking as its own pursuit. Meanwhile, EdgeConneX keeps adding buildings nearby, and both campuses would likely draw from the same pool of electricians. Subs with Austin area crews should get their names in early.
