RWE and Google have signed a 15-year power purchase agreement covering the full output of the 155MWac Crooked Creek Solar project in McCurtain County, Oklahoma. It marks RWE's first solar project in the state.
Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, with commercial operation expected in 2028. The electricity will support Google's operations in the Southwest Power Pool market.
RWE says the project will also deliver long-term economic benefits to McCurtain County and surrounding communities. Construction alone is expected to create up to 250 jobs at peak activity, generating an estimated $24.3 million in local economic activity and $1.4 million in state and local tax revenue.
Once operational, RWE projects the facility will contribute roughly $25 million toward county programs, local emergency medical services, the Broken Bow School District, and regional technology education centers.
The agreement builds on RWE's existing presence in Oklahoma. The company owns and operates the 148MW Boiling Springs wind project in Woodward County and has six more power projects, totaling 1.6GW, in development across the state.
