Kodiak Gas Services just locked in a six-year deal to supply 76 megawatts of behind-the-meter baseload power to a data center in West Texas, the company announced Monday.
The Woodlands-based company will deploy roughly 40 reciprocating natural gas-fueled generation units to handle the job, including balance of plant. The customer isn't a lightweight either: it's contracted with an investment-grade-rated hyperscaler, and a GPU designer is guaranteeing the lease.

CEO Mickey McKee called the deal "an ideal situation," noting the project size matches Kodiak's available fleet and the location sits right inside its established West Texas footprint. This marks Kodiak's second long-term primary power contract with a data center. Company-wide, McKee says, roughly half of Kodiak's power portfolio is now under long-term contracts.
Gigawatt Goals: Kodiak is chasing 2 gigawatts of power generation capacity by 2030. McKee points to the company's commercial pipeline and its track record supplying behind-the-meter power to data centers as the path to landing more deals like this one.
