Skanska has signed an additional $60 million contract with Lee Health for the new hospital and medical office building it's constructing in Fort Myers, Florida. The company announced the deal in a press release on Oct. 2.

The contract is worth about SEK 560 million. Skanska will include it in its US order bookings for the third quarter of 2026.

This isn't a new project. Instead, the existing contract was amended to add:

  • Interior buildout finishes

  • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work associated with the West Bed Tower expansion

Put simply, the new money covers what goes inside: the building systems and the finished interiors.

Three Pieces, One Contract:

  • A five-story hospital of approximately 416,000 square feet

  • A central energy plant

  • A medical office building of approximately 125,000 square feet that includes an ambulatory surgery center

The hospital and medical office building add up to roughly 541,000 square feet, not including the energy plant.

On the Calendar: Construction began in June 2024 and is scheduled for completion in May 2028. Measured by time on the schedule rather than work in place, the job is about 60% of the way through.

The building's insides just became a $60 million entry in Skanska's order book.
