The Daily Dig:

T5 Data Centers announced a strategic alignment of its Services and Properties businesses, formally organizing them as two distinct operating entities under the T5 platform. The company said the move reflects the scale it has reached and is intended to improve focus and accountability as its data center portfolio continues to grow. T5 was explicit that this is a structural adjustment, not a change in market focus, customer base, or development strategy.

Under the new structure, T5 Services is led by Tom Mertz, COO and President, and oversees T5 Construction and T5 Operations, including work in live, energized environments. T5 Properties is led by Peter Almond, CIO and President, and is responsible for asset ownership and development activities, including capital planning, site selection, power expertise, and long-term portfolio stewardship. CEO and Chairman Pete Marin stated that existing projects, contracts, and operating relationships remain unchanged, with the organizational alignment expected to roll out over the coming months as planning progresses through Q1 2026.

TheJobWalk Thoughts:

The fastest way to lose time on a data center job is three groups thinking the other two have it covered. Drawing cleaner lines between Services and Properties won’t make work easier, but it makes responsibility obvious. And obvious responsibility is usually what keeps small problems from turning into long nights.
