The Daily Dig
Suffolk has hired Armond Balaian as Executive Vice President and Division Manager of its Silicon Valley operations. He will be based out of the firm's recently opened Milpitas office.
Suffolk is expanding its work across tenant improvements, retrofits, building repositioning, campus-style programs and new construction for corporate, advanced technology, healthcare, life sciences and commercial clients.
Balaian spent nearly two decades at BCCI Construction, most recently as Vice President of its Silicon Valley office, where he oversaw one of the firm's highest producing regions. His project history includes office, lab, headquarters and tenant improvement work for clients such as Google, Apple, Stanford, Chevron and Bank of America.
The hire comes as Silicon Valley sees fresh construction demand tied to artificial intelligence growth, return to office activity and demand for future ready, highly technical space. Suffolk says the Milpitas office will complement its San Francisco operations and give the firm a stronger local presence, backed by its national resources and its integrated delivery approach through Suffolk Design.
Suffolk operates five offices across California, in San Francisco, Milpitas, Los Angeles, San Diego and Newport Beach. Recently completed or underway projects in the state include Gilead in Foster City, Cal Poly student housing in San Luis Obispo, and UCSF Parnassus Central Campus Site Improvements in San Francisco.

TheJobWalk Thoughts
Balaian spent nearly two decades building Silicon Valley relationships at BCCI before crossing over to a national platform with far greater scale. Moves like this are worth watching in a relationship-driven business like construction, where a senior hire's existing client ties can open doors faster than cold outreach ever could.
It will also be worth tracking how Suffolk staffs early work out of the Milpitas office as it ramps up, and whether Balaian's BCCI background plays any role in those decisions.
