Suffolk, the Boston-based general contractor pulling in more than $10 billion in annual revenue, is expanding its design partnership with Neuron Factory, a startup building what it calls a "knowledge graph of construction."
The relationship started through BOOST, Suffolk Technologies' accelerator program. It's since grown into a series of collaborative pilots and real-world use cases across Suffolk's organization.
Neuron Factory's pitch is simple. Preconstruction generates a mountain of drawings, specs, scope decisions, revisions, and conversations. The real risk usually isn't sitting inside any single document. It's buried in the dependencies and changes between them.
Tracking the Paper Trail
The platform ingests project data and organizes it into a connected record: what changed, why it changed, and how that change might ripple elsewhere. The goal is surfacing scope gaps and cross-discipline risks earlier, while keeping context intact from initial pursuit through production handoff and beyond.
Through the expanded partnership, the two companies are exploring:
Retaining institutional project knowledge across teams
Reasoning across drawings and specifications together
Flagging potential scope and coordination risks
Smoothing the handoff of project context between phases
Neuron Factory was founded in 2025 by former Microsoft and Waymo execs Zaid Kahn and Salil Pandit. Backers include Suffolk Technologies and Trimble Ventures, among others.
Suffolk, ranked #7 on the Top CM-at-Risk Contractors list with 3,500 employees and offices nationwide, is now evaluating how far the technology can scale across its operations.
