Sundt has broken ground on the City of Denton's Pecan Creek Water Reclamation Plant expansion in Denton, Texas. The project will increase treatment capacity, improve reliability, and modernize operations to meet rising demand. The contractor announced the start of construction on September 22, 2026.
Treatment Plan
The scope includes a new headworks facility built to handle 75 million gallons per day.
It also adds a treatment buildout of 30 million gallons per day using membrane bioreactor technology. According to Sundt, the upgrades will strengthen process performance and maintain high treatment standards as the region grows.
The scope also includes ultraviolet disinfection, anaerobic digesters, and expanded solids handling capabilities.
Rounding out the package are underground utility upgrades and site enhancements integrated within the existing plant footprint.
Still Flowing
The existing plant stays fully operational while the new work is built.
"Through advanced treatment solutions and strategic phasing, we're delivering critical improvements while keeping the existing facility fully operational and untouched throughout the construction of their new improvements," said Matt Bothun, Texas regional manager for Sundt's Water & Wastewater Group.
