Oracle Sets $45-$50B Financing Plan

CNBC

Oracle has announced a financing plan for calendar year 2026 targeting $45 billion to $50 billion in gross cash proceeds. The company says the funding will help support continued expansion of its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) business. The plan has already gotten the green light from Oracle's Board of Directors.

The funding strategy relies on a balanced mix of equity and debt. Oracle expects roughly half of the proceeds to come from equity linked and common equity issuances. This includes mandatory convertible preferred securities and an at-the-market equity program of up to $20 billion, rolled out over time at market prices.

The other half is planned through a single issuance of investmentgrade senior unsecured bonds in early 2026. Oracle doesn't expect to issue additional bonds beyond this one transaction. Goldman Sachs & Co will lead the bond offering, with Citigroup taking the lead on the equity and preferred issuances.

Eli Lilly Picks Pennsylvania For $3.4B Manufacturing Plant

Eli Lilly has chosen Fogelsville, Pennsylvania as the site for its newest injectable medicine and device manufacturing facility, committing more than $3.5 billion to the project. The facility will produce next generation weight loss therapies, including investigational retatrutide.

The company says the build will create around 2,000 construction jobs as the campus takes shape, with construction expected to kick off in 2026. Lilly is planning for the facility to be up and running by 2031, which means a long build phase and steady demand for workers across different trades.

Once it's finished, the site is expected to support about 850 permanent jobs, including roles in engineering, operations, science, and lab work. Lilly reports the Fogelsville location was selected from more than 300 applicants, with the region's infrastructure, manufacturing base, universities, and technical talent all playing a role in the decision.

Grand Paris Express, France

CNN

Grand Paris Express is a large scale metro expansion underway in the Île-de-France region, delivering four new automatic lines (15, 16, 17, and 18) along with extensions to existing Lines 11 and 14. The program will add around 200 km of new track and 68 new stations, reshaping how suburbs connect without funneling trips through central Paris.

Construction is active across the network, with tunneling, station excavation, viaduct work, and systems installation all moving forward on multiple line segments at the same time. The Line 14 extension has already entered service, while major works continue on Lines 15, 16, 17, and 18 under a phased delivery schedule running through 2026-2035.

The project is being delivered by Société des Grands Projets, coordinating dozens of civil and rail packages across the region. With TBMs running, stations taking shape, and rail systems advancing, Grand Paris Express remains one of the largest urban rail construction programs in Europe.

SpaceX to Merge With xAI

CNN

Elon Musk has merged his artificial intelligence company xAI into SpaceX, combining two of his most ambitious ventures. The deal brings together SpaceX's launch and satellite infrastructure with xAI's AI development, aiming to enable a future where artificial intelligence operates beyond Earth.

The combined entity is valued at roughly $1.25 trillion, according to Reuters. As part of this vision, SpaceX has filed plans with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to launch up to 1 million satellites equipped with optical links and powered by solar energy.

Musk described the effort as necessary for long term AI scalability, stating: "In the long term, space based AI is obviously the only way to scale." However, experts cited in the report highlight major challenges ahead, including space radiation, cooling systems, and the high cost of running computing infrastructure in orbit.
