BUILD America 250 Act Advances Through Committee

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed the H.R. 8870, BUILD America 250 Act on May 22, 2026, by a bipartisan vote of 62 to 2 following a 14-hour markup session. The bill heads to the House floor before authorization expires September 30, 2026.
The five-year, $580 billion bill covers fiscal years 2027 through 2031, allocating $474.4 billion through the Highway Trust Fund. Transit funding rises to $87.6 billion.
Rail programs receive $64.7 billion, including $31.1 billion for Amtrak across the Northeast Corridor and national network.
The bill adds annual registration fees to support the Highway Trust Fund. Plug in hybrids pay $35 per year and EVs $130, increasing gradually from 2029.
California's high-speed rail project faces a temporary federal funding freeze while a working group reviews it, lasting no more than two years.

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
Marina Bay Sands is a $5.6 billion integrated resort on the waterfront of Singapore's financial district, developed by Las Vegas Sands Corporation and designed by architect Moshe Safdie. Construction began in 2006, with the full resort opening in June 2010.
The complex comprises three 57-story hotel towers standing approximately 191 meters tall, topped by a 1.2-hectare SkyPark longer than the Eiffel Tower. During construction, crews built one hotel floor every four days.
The rooftop infinity pool and 200-meter observation deck are the resort's most recognizable features. The complex also includes a casino, convention center, theaters, retail, and the ArtScience Museum.
Las Vegas Sands described it as one of the world's most challenging construction projects. The resort directly employs 10,000 people and supports an estimated 20,000 indirect jobs across Singapore.
A major expansion is underway, with Las Vegas Sands committing $8 billion to Marina Bay Sands IR2, adding a fourth hotel tower, a 15,000-seat arena, and a new Skyloop.

Autodesk to Acquire MaintainX for $3.6 Billion
Autodesk has announced a definitive agreement to acquire MaintainX, a maintenance and operations software platform, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $3.6 billion. The deal is expected to close later this fiscal year, pending regulatory approval.
The acquisition supports Autodesk's strategy to connect design, make, and operate workflows under a single platform. The company has created Autodesk Operations Solutions to bring these capabilities together, with MaintainX adding maintenance management, work orders, inspections, and asset tracking to the mix.
MaintainX is used globally by organizations managing facilities, assets, and frontline operational workflows. The company is on track to exceed $135 million in annualized recurring revenue for 2026, with growth exceeding 50 percent.
Autodesk sees operations as a major expansion opportunity, citing the ability to unlock higher-value AI applications and extend its relationship with assets from years to decades.
The deal will be funded through a combination of cash on hand and debt financing.
