Apple announced a new multiyear commitment with Broadcom worth more than $30 billion.

The agreement covers the design and production of custom silicon and wireless connectivity technologies for Apple products, with more than 15 billion chips expected to be made in the U.S.

The construction angle centers on Fort Collins, Colorado, where Apple's commitment will enable Broadcom to expand and modernize its manufacturing facilities.

The project carries a $1.5 billion capital expenditure investment, though the release does not specify how much covers construction versus equipment or tooling.

The Fort Collins facilities will produce advanced radio frequency components, including FBAR filters, along with advanced wireless connectivity technologies.

Apple said the deal supports a broader goal of building an end-to-end domestic silicon supply chain, tying the announcement to its previously stated commitment to invest $600 billion in the U.S. economy over four years.

Announced last week, President Donald Trump and U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy unveiled renderings this week for a sweeping overhaul of Washington Dulles International Airport, describing the program as a "$20+ billion" capital investment.

USDOT, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, and United Airlines are named as overseeing partners.

The plan calls for replacing Concourses C and D, adding new gates, and building more than 5 million square feet of new or renovated space, along with new AeroTrain connections and a central walking tunnel.

The project also includes a new U.S. Customs facility, a modernized baggage system, and expanded concessions, plus one of the largest United Polaris Lounges in the world.

No contractor has been named for the full program, though MWAA issued an RFQ on June 12 for a design-build team on Revitalization Package A, with responses due August 19.

Octapharma, the world's largest privately owned independent plasma fractionator, will build its first U.S. manufacturing site at Palmetto Research Park in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The 50-acre, $1.5 billion facility is expected to create 1,500 full-time jobs and will produce plasma-derived therapies and trauma care products. No general contractor or groundbreaking date has been announced.

CyrusOne has filed permits for its DFW20 campus, three data center buildings on FM 488 in Fairfield, Freestone County, next to Calpine's Freestone Energy Campus. The $1.5 billion project totals 918,650 square feet across buildings DFW20A, B, and C. Two buildings have broken ground, with the third starting next month and full completion expected by August 2027.

Balfour Beatty is partnering with the University of Florida to redevelop the Trusler, Simpson, and Graham Hall sites into student housing, delivering four buildings totaling 680,000+ square feet and 2,217 beds. Balfour Beatty is leading design-build delivery through a 65:35 joint venture with Stellar Group. The project is Phase 1 of UF's 10-year, $2 billion plan to add 10,000 beds. Construction is underway, with two buildings complete by Fall 2028 and the rest following later that year.

The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board voted 8-0 to approve a $231 million, 108-bed replacement hospital for Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights, despite staff recommending against it over bed surplus concerns. The facility includes 96 behavioral health beds and 12 medical/surgical beds. State grants cover $222.75 million of the cost. Construction begins March 2027, with completion targeted for June 30, 2030.

Procore Technologies announced July 29 that it has entered a definitive agreement to acquire DroneDeploy for approximately $845 million in cash, subject to customary purchase price adjustments.

DroneDeploy is a robotics and visual intelligence platform used on more than 3 million jobsites across over 180 countries. The acquisition will bring DroneDeploy's aerial and ground reality capture and robotics capabilities into the Procore platform, combining visual jobsite data with Procore AI to support automated observations and actions.

"Once the acquisition closes, we plan to immediately cross-sell DroneDeploy's solutions into our broader customer base and vice versa," said Ajei Gopal, President and CEO of Procore.

Once completed, the deal will combine two large datasets. Procore brings nearly 400 million photos, more than 126 million drawings, and over 10 million RFIs, submittals, and inspections, while DroneDeploy adds roughly 20 trillion square feet of visual data and more than 100,000 labeled safety issues.

The transaction is expected to close later this year, pending regulatory approval.

The CCTV Headquarters rises 234 meters over 51 floors in Beijing's Central Business District. The building is formed by two leaning towers bent 90 degrees at top and bottom, creating a continuous loop that Arup describes as a "three-dimensional cranked loop."

Architects Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren of OMA designed the building. Arup served as structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, geotechnical, and fire engineer, coordinating design teams across its London, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen offices.

ECADI, the East China Architectural Design & Research Institute, worked as the local design institute, a role required under Chinese tender regulations.

Construction began in 2004, following approval of the structural design by the Chinese Ministry of Construction. The building's two tower sections rose separately before being joined to complete the loop on December 26, 2007, timed to the coldest part of the night so the steel in both towers matched temperature.

The project reached construction completion in time to support Beijing's 2008 Olympics broadcast, with full completion following in 2012.
