The FAA is sending $870 million to airports across the country, spread across 339 grants in 44 states and two territories. This marks the last of five installments under a $2.89 billion fiscal 2026 push, funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

Los Angeles International Airport takes the largest share, $289.35 million for a new terminal access road. Miami International Airport picks up $50 million for roof work on its terminal, while Denver and Chicago O'Hare are getting a combined $117 million for taxiway rehabilitation.

Smaller airports are seeing real money too. Akron Canton in Ohio gets $9.1 million for passenger bridges, and Juneau International in Alaska receives $4.2 million for snow removal equipment.

This closes out the program's five year authorization window, though committed funds can still convert into contracts beyond September 30.

Whether the funding stream continues past fiscal 2026 remains an open question for the industry to watch.

The Washington Commanders have selected a joint venture of Clark Construction Group, Mortenson, and Smoot Construction Company of DC to build the team's new stadium in the nation's capital. The 1.8 million square foot, roughly 65,000 seat enclosed venue will rise on the former RFK Stadium site as the anchor of an 180 acre campus.

The climate controlled facility is designed to host more than 200 events a year, ranging from major sporting events to concerts and community gatherings. Team officials describe it as the largest private investment in DC's history, with a strong emphasis on hiring local residents and Certified Business Enterprise participation.

The joint venture brings a track record that includes Nationals Park, Capital One Arena, Allegiant Stadium, and U.S. Bank Stadium. Site preparation work started in June, with full construction slated to begin in spring 2027.

The Commanders are targeting a spring 2030 completion.

Local leaders, including DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, framed the project as a step toward transforming the Anacostia riverfront into a broader mixed use destination beyond the stadium itself.

Bristol Myers Squibb is building a $2.3 billion manufacturing campus in Houston, part of its broader $40 billion U.S. investment commitment. The roughly 600,000 square foot modular facility at Generation Park will produce small molecules, biologics, and antibody-drug conjugates. It's expected to create nearly 500 skilled jobs, plus about 2,000 construction jobs between 2027 and 2030 as the site is built out.

Governor Josh Stein announced STERIS plc will invest $600 million in a new Chemistries Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Sanford, North Carolina, creating 335 jobs. The 600,000 square foot campus at Helix Innovation Park will house advanced manufacturing, R&D, lab, warehouse, and distribution operations. Of the total investment, $327 million is earmarked for construction, with the remainder split between equipment and land acquisition. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2030.

Governor Greg Abbott announced SpaceX will build a vertically integrated semiconductor fabrication plant in Grimes County, Texas, called Terafab. The first phase represents a capital investment of more than $16.8 billion and will create 3,000 jobs. The 100 million square foot facility will consolidate chip production under one roof. The project is backed by a $30 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant and qualifies under the state's JETI program.

Southwire is investing more than $256 million to expand its Starkville, Mississippi copper wire and cable plant, adding 380,000 square feet and creating 128 new jobs. The move is part of the company's broader two billion dollar modernization push, driven by rising demand tied to electrification and data center growth. Construction begins in late 2026, with full capacity online in 2028.

TerraFirma, an Austin-based construction technology company, has raised approximately $115 million, including a $100 million Series A led by Kleiner Perkins. Additional backers include Bain Capital Ventures and several other venture firms, along with angel investors from SpaceX, Anduril, and other engineering-heavy companies.

The funding will grow TerraFirma's engineering, manufacturing, operations, and construction teams while advancing its semi-autonomous heavy equipment systems. The company retrofits excavators, dozers, loaders, and other machinery so operators can control multiple units remotely from a command center rather than sitting in the cab.

Founded in 2024 by former SpaceX engineers Noah Schochet and Noah McGuinness, TerraFirma points to a steady decline in US construction productivity since 1965, even as the broader economy has grown steadily.

The company has already completed site work on commercial projects in Texas, including a Starbucks location, a sports arena, and a power substation.

TerraFirma also holds government contracts for infrastructure work abroad, and says its long-term ambitions extend beyond Earth entirely.

The Petronas Twin Towers are a pair of 1,483 foot skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, among the tallest twin towers in the world. Cesar Pelli, working through his firm now known as Pelli Clarke & Partners, served as design architect for the towers.

The completed complex spans 10,700,000 square feet, reflecting the full program built into the site rather than just the height of the towers themselves.

That scale extends beyond the towers alone. The site was designed as a complete complex, integrating cultural and civic space into what could have easily remained a standalone office development.

That program includes the Petronas Philharmonic Hall, a 900 seat venue connected to the towers at ground level. It now serves as home to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and hosts visiting orchestras from around the world.

Together, the towers and hall stand as one of Pelli's most recognized projects, cementing his reputation on the global stage.
