Bank of America Commits $250 Billion to Infrastructure Financing Through 2027

Bank of America has unveiled a $250 billion Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative timed to America's 250th anniversary, with capital deployment running from 2026 through July 4, 2027.
The 18-month effort will channel financing, investment and advisory support toward three sectors: digital infrastructure like data centers and semiconductors, energy and power systems including generation and storage, and core infrastructure such as transportation, grid systems and water networks.
Bank co-president Jim DeMare framed the initiative as a reflection of confidence in the country's economic trajectory, tying infrastructure growth to energy security and technological competitiveness.
Karen Fang, who leads the bank's infrastructure and sustainable finance division, said meeting these needs requires coordinated capital across public and private markets, bringing developers, investors and corporations together at scale.
The bank projects the initiative will support tens of thousands of jobs, building on existing workforce development programs that connected more than 90,000 people to employment last year alone.

AECOM Hunt/Turner/HORUS Tops Rankings for $2.3B Tampa Bay Rays Stadium

Source: Tampa Bay Rays
A selection committee has ranked AECOM Hunt, Turner Construction, and HORUS Construction Services as the top choice for construction manager at risk on the Tampa Bay Rays' $2.3 billion ballpark.
The ranking was finalized August 17 following a public meeting at Hillsborough College, where the committee reviewed scores from four competing teams before advancing the leading firm.
The full order runs AECOM Hunt/Turner/HORUS first, Mortenson/Beck/Envision second, Gilbane/Barton Malow third, and H.J. Russell & Company fourth. If the Rays can't land fair pricing with the top firm, talks shift to the next name down the list.
Financing remains unsettled but is further along than it appears. A May memorandum of understanding caps public funding at $976 million, with the Rays covering the remaining $1.27 billion and any overruns. A July Tampa City Council vote against transmitting a required land-use amendment has since complicated that timeline.
AECOM Hunt brings local credibility, having rebuilt Tropicana Field's roof after Hurricane Milton, while HORUS adds Tampa-based experience to the joint venture.
The ballpark is targeted for the Rays' 2029 opening day.

Bedrock Robotics Launches First Fully Autonomous Excavator
Bedrock Robotics has moved fully autonomous excavators onto live commercial job sites, completing work entirely on their own for the first time on real infrastructure projects.
The company is running deployments in Nevada alongside Sundt Construction on a water treatment facility, in Texas with Champion Site Prep on a multi-million cubic yard earthwork job, and with Zachry Construction Corporation on a 1.2 million cubic yard civil sitework project.
Bedrock started with excavators because they make up roughly a quarter of a typical contractor's fleet and take about five years to master, a steep learning curve that has made skilled operators chronically hard to find. The retrofit kit installs in a single day and requires no permanent changes to the machine.
Sundt CEO Cade Rowley said the technology is bringing more predictable schedules and costs while letting experienced crews focus where their skills matter most.
Safety systems stop the excavator automatically if a person or object enters its path, letting it work alongside other equipment without barriers. Bedrock plans to extend the system next to dozers, loaders, and dump trucks.

China Merchants Bank Headquarters

Source: Foster + Partners
Foster + Partners' China Merchants Bank Headquarters is nearing completion in Shenzhen, rising 388 meters to supertall status.
Construction has progressed steadily on the tower's illuminated facade, with recently released photos showing steel frames installed partway up the building in a tessellated pattern that catches light across the glass panels.
The design draws on traditional Chinese paper folding, expressed through rounded vertical sections and triangular panes of glass on the south-facing elevation. This distinctive treatment has already earned the project an award of excellence from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
As construction nears its final stages, the building's lighting scheme is becoming a defining visual feature, with illuminated corners on the glass panels highlighting the steel framework beneath.
The tower is expected to reach completion later this year, marking one of Shenzhen's most closely watched supertall projects.

A beautiful dream. Completely unrealistic, but beautifulโฆ
