The Daily Dig:
Forsyth's city council just voted 5-1 to rezone around 1,600 acres on the west side of town for data center use. The land sits near Johnstonville Road and I-75, and the rezoning puts it under a planned development designation that opens the door for major infrastructure work down the line.
Trammell Crow Company is driving the effort. H&H Timber owns the property. City leaders made it clear this vote only grants entitlement, it doesn't green-light construction, lock in timelines, or obligate the city to fund roads, power upgrades, or anything else. The rezoning references a conceptual layout, but that's all it is for now.

TheJobWalk Thoughts:
Trammell Crow locked down zoning on 1,600 acres because they know what happens when you don't, someone else gets to argue with the planning commission three years from now. This isn't a job you chase tomorrow. It's one you file away and check on every six months. The real work starts with sitework, utilities, and access roads, and that could be a year out or longer depending on who's funding what. If you're doing civil or utility work in middle Georgia, now's the time to map out who handles power coordination, how stormwater gets routed, and which routes actually connect to the interstate. By the time verticals show up, the contractors who understood the bones of this site will already be three steps ahead.
