Document Crunch, a Trimble company, announced on Oct. 21 that its platform can now review construction drawings alongside contracts, specifications and other project documents. Using CrunchAI, teams can search a full document set at once to find scope gaps, conflicting requirements and other risks.

The new drawing review is available now to all Document Crunch users.

Sheet Happens: Josh Levy, co-founder of Document Crunch and Trimble’s VP of risk and compliance solutions, said teams work across hundreds of drawing sheets, specs and contracts. Significant risks emerge, he said, when the information in those documents doesn’t line up.

Catching those conflicts early, he added, gives teams time to clarify, price or resolve them before they turn into rework, unplanned cost or disputes.

According to Trimble, general-purpose AI models can struggle with large drawing sheets packed with text. They also lack the project context needed to connect requirements across documents.

CrunchAI is built to extract and index the notes, allowances and scope language buried across those sheets.

Catch It Before Award:

  • Verify sheet indexes and find missing sheets or spec sections

  • Flag discipline discrepancies earlier in preconstruction

  • Query drawings, contracts and specs together in a chat interface, with citations linked back to the source

  • Run the same company checks across drawing sets and related documents

Concrete Evidence: Kristen Ortiz, VP of project controls at Hill & Wilkinson, described a recent renovation where her team had to redo some plumbing. The drawings didn’t show that the job would also require them to cut concrete and backfill.

According to Ortiz, Document Crunch caught those additional requirements and helped the team spot work that might otherwise have been overlooked.

It’s a good reminder that on any plan set, the scope nobody drew still has to get built.

Just a quick one..
