The Daily Dig

Turner Construction Company has started site work on the $224 million Northern Chautauqua Hospital in Fredonia, New York. The project is a joint investment by Kaleida Health and Brooks-TLC Hospital System, building on an existing affiliation between the two organizations.

The facility will be a single-story building totaling 133,000 square feet on a 30-acre site. The target opening is the end of 2028, with the hospital expected to handle more than 260,000 patient visits per year.

The program includes 15 medical-surgical beds, a 16-bay emergency department, five observation beds, operating and procedure rooms, imaging services, a helipad, and primary and specialty care clinics.

Turner Vice President and Business Manager Steve Perrigo highlighted the company's partnership with Kaleida Health, Brooks-TLC, and local trade contractors as central to the project's delivery.

TheJobWalk Thoughts

Healthcare projects at this scale carry long procurement cycles. MEP, medical gas, imaging infrastructure, and specialty systems all have lead times that can stretch well beyond a year. Subs and suppliers in the region who wait to be invited are usually too late.

Turner specifically called out local trade contractor involvement. For Western New York firms, that's an active signal to get in front of the project team now, not after packages are awarded.
