The Daily Dig

Tutor Perini Building Corp., a subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corporation, has been selected by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to handle a $140 million renovation and expansion of Choctaw Casino & Resort Pocola. The project is located in Pocola, Oklahoma, and covers both existing structures and new construction on the property.

The scope includes interior and exterior renovations to the current hotel and casino, touching every food and gaming venue on site. Alongside that work, TPBC will build a new seven story hotel tower with 130 rooms adjacent to the existing property. The tower will also include a spa, fitness center, and pool complex.

TPBC has been working the preconstruction phase since 2025, and construction is expected to start in the third quarter of 2026. Tutor Perini says the $140 million contract value will be added to its backlog incrementally, tied to design milestones and the award of subsequent construction phases rather than all at once.

This is a phased award, not a lump sum mobilization. Tutor Perini's own language shows the $140 million lands in backlog as design milestones are achieved and later phases get awarded, rather than as a single sum tied to groundbreaking.

That kind of staged backlog recognition usually points to a project still being defined in pieces, with scope and sequencing firming up as design work progresses. It is a signal worth watching, not a confirmed procurement plan, since the release does not detail how or when specific trade work will be bid.

Preconstruction has run since 2025, well ahead of the Q3 2026 start. That extended runway gives TPBC significant lead time to shape scope before construction begins, which is worth factoring into how subs think about the project's timeline, even though the release does not speak to subcontractor outreach or bidding specifics.
