Suffolk and Zwick Construction Company have been selected to build a new 91,700 square foot Trades and Technology Building at Dixie Technical College in St. George, Utah, according to a joint announcement. The two firms will deliver the project through a progressive design-build approach.
Suffolk brings a national higher-ed construction portfolio. Zwick brings deep Utah roots, with offices in Salt Lake City and St. George. The pairing is built around combining that reach with a shared read on the local market.
The Numbers That Matter:
The building will support the expansion of nine existing programs
It'll also create space for eight new programs
New offerings include structural and wildland firefighting, automation and robotics, and composite materials construction
Many of Dixie Tech's current high-demand programs already carry enrollment waitlists. The new facility is meant to let the college serve more students and open up more pathways into those fields.
Building More Than Walls
John Kemp, Suffolk's Mountain West COO, said the job requires listening closely, anticipating challenges, and bringing the right expertise to keep the college's goals central to every decision. Zwick CEO Darin Zwick echoed that client-first framing, saying the partnership works because both teams bring different strengths to one shared goal.
The project ties into Suffolk's broader trades advocacy, too. Mike Rowe recently stopped by one of the firm's Massachusetts job sites, joining Suffolk's CEO and trade partners to talk about the state of America's skilled workforce.
A trades building with a waiting list before it's even built isn't a marketing problem. It's a square-footage problem, and this one's finally getting solved.
