STO Building Group made two major leadership additions this summer. Peter Bulgarelli joined the company's Board of Directors in August, and Tyler Swartzwelder came on as Senior Vice President of Operations in July.
The Board Seat:
Peter Bulgarelli spent 28 years at JLL, where he built the firm's healthcare group from the ground up into a 1,500 person operation. He led its healthcare, life sciences, higher education, and public sector businesses.
From there, he moved to Ventas, Inc., a publicly traded healthcare REIT. He served as Executive Vice President, Outpatient Medical & Research, and as President and CEO of subsidiary Lillibridge Healthcare Services. As part of the Ventas leadership team, he helped oversee 1,450 properties and roughly $60 billion in enterprise volume across the US, UK, and Canada.
He also serves on the board of Ardent Health, sitting on its Audit, Nominating, Compensation, and Strategic Committees, along with other board work in healthcare real estate and nonprofit organizations.
"Peter's longtime experience in real estate management, particularly in healthcare, makes him an excellent addition to our board," said Jim Donaghy, STO Building Group Executive Chairman.
The Operations Hire:
Tyler Swartzwelder joins from Gilbane Building Company, where he served as senior vice president and business leader for the Washington, DC office. He brings nearly 20 years of operational leadership experience across mission critical, public administration, higher education, entertainment, healthcare, and tenant interiors.
At STOBG, he'll work with leaders across the company's family of builders on operational strategy, joint ventures, sector diversity, and complex project execution, along with the company's Safety 360° philosophy.
Greg Dunkle, STO Building Group chief operating officer, said Swartzwelder's "client-first mentality is a perfect fit" for the culture. He added that Swartzwelder's P&L background will help him "mitigate risk" and support project teams toward successful outcomes.
One hire adds boardroom experience in healthcare real estate. The other adds two decades of hands-on operational leadership across some of construction's toughest sectors, mission critical among them.
Together, they cover a lot of ground for one summer.
