Walmart is building a 1.5 million square foot next-gen fulfillment center in Carnesville, Georgia. The project brings 1,000 new jobs and $1.3 billion in investment to Franklin County.
Governor Brian Kemp announced the deal from Lima, Peru, while on an economic development trip. Deals don't wait for you to be home, apparently.
The automated facility will sit at the Franklin 85 Logistics Center. Construction is set to break ground in late 2026, part of Walmart's broader push to build next-gen fulfillment centers in strategic markets for faster same-day and next-day shipping.
Georgia's Already Deep in Walmart Country:
This is far from Walmart's first project in the state.

Franklin Springs Mayor Lee Moore called the project a significant milestone for the community. GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson, who grew up in Franklin County, called it generational opportunity for the county and communities across northeast Georgia.
Kemp's pitch is simple: good jobs, closer to home, no commute to a bigger city required. Franklin County is about to run on robots.
