Meta Named Developer of 2,000-Acre Hyperscale Campus in Mason County, Kentucky

Meta Platforms has been identified as the developer behind a proposed hyperscale data center in Mason County, Kentucky. County Judge-Executive Owen McNeill made the announcement Tuesday after the fiscal court approved an agreement with the company.

The technology campus will occupy more than 2,000 acres near Maysville that county officials zoned for the project in May. McNeill said Meta plans to build it in five phases, with capital investment estimated at a potential $800 billion over a 40-year agreement.

At full buildout, the campus is expected to support up to 400 full-time jobs. McNeill also projected roughly $60 million a year for county schools and $26 million for county government.

The deal includes a community benefits package topping $115 million, much of it directed toward local water lines and a new regional treatment plant.

The project remains contested. Some residents face relocation, and a group opposed to the development has filed suit.

Blue Origin to Build $555 Million Manufacturing Campus in Hutto, Texas

Blue Origin plans to invest about $555 million in a new manufacturing campus in Hutto, Texas, according to the governor’s office. Called Constellation Park, the 1.3 million square foot complex will anchor production for several of the company’s satellite and communications programs.

A major focus will be TeraWave, Blue Origin’s satellite network designed to deliver up to 6 terabits per second of symmetrical data worldwide to enterprise, data center and government customers.

The site will also expand output for Quartz, the company’s ground communications network, and produce subsystems such as solar arrays, avionics and telecommunications hardware.

Blue Origin has operated in Texas since opening Launch Site One in 2006 and employs more than 550 people in the state. The new campus is expected to add over 2,000 manufacturing and related jobs within a decade.

CEO Dave Limp pointed to the state’s talent pool as a draw, while Gov. Greg Abbott called the expansion evidence of Texas’ strength in advanced manufacturing and space.

UpCodes’ AI Plan Review Flags 180,000 Potential Issues Across 1,300 Plan Sets

UpCodes says its AI Plan Review tool has examined more than 1,300 construction plan sets since launching in June, flagging over 180,000 potential issues along the way.

The company’s system pairs multimodal AI with its building code libraries to read both the graphics and the technical content of drawings. The plans reviewed covered 73 jurisdictions and 14 code editions, ranging from single-family homes to medical facilities.

On average, each set carried 21 critical findings, with missing exit signage appearing most often. Nearly half involved life safety, including egress, fire protection and fire-resistance-rated construction, while about one in 10 were coordination clashes between disciplines.

UpCodes estimates the flagged issues represent more than $1 million in potential construction-phase costs per project on average, based on its own cost model.

Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, BDG Architects and Hereford Dooley Architects are among recent adopters. The company describes the tool as a first pass that does not replace licensed professionals or the authority having jurisdiction.

WORLD

Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong

Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong’s largest sports park, covers 28 hectares, or roughly 69 acres. The government calls it its most significant investment in sports infrastructure in decades.

Since 2018, the government has put about HK$31.9 billion into the project. It was delivered under a design-build-operate model, with Kai Tak Sports Park Limited handling design, construction and day-to-day operations.

The 25-year contract allots about six years to design and construction and roughly 19 years to operation, which the operator runs on a self-financing basis.

The park was officially commissioned on March 1, 2025. Its anchors are the 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium, the 10,000-seat Kai Tak Arena and the 5,000-seat Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground.

The park also includes about 14 hectares of landscaped open space, along with shops and restaurants. Officials say it has become a major hub for sporting and entertainment events, supporting tourism and related industries.
